Keep the Heads beautiful.
Shoalhaven Council is considering selling Golden Avenue Reserve.
Golden Avenue Reserve is a small block of green space near the corner of Golden Hill Avenue and Shoalhaven Heads Road (see map below.) It’s home to over 25 fully developed trees and the birds and wildlife that inhabit them - things that make the Heads a great place to live and visit.
Council is currently considering re-zoning the block and selling it for development. And once it’s gone, it’ll be gone for good.
Council are taking submissions from the community via an online survey until 5pm on May 23.

What are they proposing?
Shoalhaven Council is conducting a Property Sales Program in order to raise funds to pay down debt. You can read more about the property sales program on the council website.
Golden Hill Avenue Reserve has been "identified for sale pending rezoning and/or classification" as an "underperforming community facility".
Council is currently investigating whether or not to proceed, and are taking feedback from the community.
If this goes ahead, the reserve may be re-zoned as residential, sold to developers and cleared.
What can I do?
The more people in the community that raise their concerns, the better chance we have of maintaining the reserve.
Pepper Reserve was also being considered for sale but has now been saved thanks to community action, so voicing your opinion really does make a difference!
